Each year millions of
fantasy football die-hard’s eagerly wait for what
many consider to be the best day of the year; fantasy football draft
day. Countless hours of research and optimism are poured into a few
hours of picking the players that they will ride to the championship
game…hopefully.
Fantasy draft day is a
glorious moment for many as it simply means
football season is here and that means we get our chance to improve on
that 2 win season last year. No longer does your excuse have to be,
“2
games are better than none”. Nobody wants to be that guy.
Draft day is a big
event for many that can be done by a super serious
sit down where anyone not on the clock is not allowed to talk. It could
be a bunch of guys in their Cleveland Browns pajamas posted up online
for hours as they all take turns picking. Or it could be a big party
that consists of the draft, beer pong and a poker game to follow.
Whatever your choice, fantasy draft day is what decides how well you
will do this season. Good choices will bring joy and laughter; bad
choices will bring tears and pain. The choice is all yours.
The time leading up to
the big day is almost as important as draft day
itself. Without doing the proper legwork to make sure your picks are
solid, can be the determining factor of a winning or losing season.
Do your homework and
either take part in or research a fantasy mock
draft. This will give you an idea of what the experts are saying and
how it will affect your picks. By looking at several mock drafts
you’ll
get a good idea of who the hot players are and you will be informed
about any rising stars. Bunch up all this information with everything
floating around in your head and pray. That’s my advice for
the
clueless as it may be your only shot at victory. If you’re
good, you
should actually be able to make some wise choices..
Take some risks during
your NFL
fantasy
draft. Playing it safe will get you many years of top five finishes
without a win. Unless you can somehow manage to stock your team with
all star players, you’re going to have to roll the dice every
once in a
while and find that player that nobody wants, but you think is going to
have a breakout year. Having good instincts is what separates the
fantasy pro’s from the rookies.
Once your fantasy
football draft is all said and done and you feel good
about your choices, it’s time for the season to begin. Be
thankful that
Fall is here and football is underway. Summertime is great and all, but
there’s nothing like the feeling of settling down for that
first
official game of the season, turning on your 5 TV’s that are
conveniently hooked up to Sunday Ticket, firing up the BBQ
and kicking back with your friends to root for your success and quietly
pray for their demise.
